Adjustment of Status
Adjustment of status is usually the final step of an immigrant petition process which allows certain individuals who are already in the United States to apply for and obtain lawful permanent resident (”green card”) status without having to travel abroad and apply at a U.S. consulate. The requirements for successful adjustment of status are fairly stringent and not everyone applicant would qualify for this procedure.
