USCIS has released a guidance on the criteria it uses to grant or reject a request for expedited processing (such as for Re-entry permit, etc.). All expedited processing requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please read the full post for details on USCIS's expedited processing criteria.
Although, as we wrote recently, there is a procedure for expediting the fingerprinting appointment in connection with a re-entry permit for green card holders, such requests are not always honored in a timely manner. Our law firm now offers a second alternative to have the fingerprinting appointment expedited by USCIS. For green card holders who plan to be outside of the U.S. for six months or more and less than two years, the re-entry permit procedure now requires biometric processing. There are steps which can be followed to expedite the biometric processing.
